This spring has been very interesting...first with the earthquakes, now with flooding. Last week there was a lot of rain north of us. They had major flooding and many people lost their homes and all their belongings. We didn't get those storms and that much rain but we are definitely getting the water...the Wabash River is flooding! Vincennes is right on the river and our apartment is only about 9 blocks away. After work yesterday we rode our bikes down to see the river. It was extremely high. It was up to 27.5 feet, 3rd highest level in recorded history. It only has about two feet to go before it goes over the flood wall. It doesn't sound like it's going to get much higher. They closed the Lincoln bridge to goes to Illinois because a levee on the Illinois side broke earlier this week. There are many roads that are closed. A bridge on the way to Washington, IN broke too and is completely gone. We took pictures for you all to see. We thought you might be interested. They definitely don't do it justice though! To get an idea...imagine in the 2nd picture the river normally being about 15 feet below the wall that now barely sticks out of the water.
