This past weekend Megan and I went on a little camping trip with 3 other young married couples from our church. You would think from the pictures that we drove for half a day to a nearby state with some great scenery. Quite the opposite is true. We only drove for a couple hours to a state part in west Indiana called
Shades State Park. Hard to believe there are canyons and waterfalls in the middle of cornfields. The weekend started with a drive down Friday afternoon. We spent the first few hours selecting a site, setting up the tents, and gathering fire wood/logs for seats. One couple was not able to come down until that evening, so the other six of us went to a nearby park called Turkey Run for the afternoon. We hiked around a bit and enjoyed the cooler air we found in a small canyon cut by a stream.
Friday night was an enjoyable time in the tent while it rained outside. Well okay, it wasn't all that enjoyable but at least we were dry in the tent. It did rain a little bit more that morning as we made breakfast. Nothing like a little grub in the rain. We were fortunate enough that it did not rain again the rest of the day. We spent most of the day hiking around Shades Park. One of the first places we saw was a place called Devil's Punchbowl. It was cool to stand on the rock formation where the water fell into the bowl. We eventually made it to the river that flows through the park called Sugar Creek. We enjoyed a rest from hiking full of rock skipping and homemade skeet shooting.
Saturday night was another night where the skies graced us with plenty of rain. We got a little wetter that night than the one before. After another morning of drying off and eating breakfast we had some devotions, sang a few tunes, and hit the road to return home.

This past Saturday was a sad day for Aaron and I. Most of our friends from college graduated and left Marion. Although we are extremely happy for them it was hard to see them leave. We went to graduation but had to sit in the overflow seating in the PAC. It was pretty much like the real thing and the seats were more comfortable. It was kinda awkward when the audience was supposed to stand or clap because we weren't really there so we didn't know if we should do it or not. However, we did cheer everytime one of our friends walked across stage, pretending they could hear us! After the ceremony we went outside and talked with all our friends and took pictures. I was a little sad that we didn't graduate with everyone but I definitely wouldn't trade graduating early and getting married for anything. :)I was really glad we could atleast be there for it. I was also a little sad when I realized that yes, we did graduate a semester before everyone, but most of them already have jobs...and then there's us. Oh gees! We are trusting the Lord has the right place for us to be but sometimes it's so hard to wait. Please continue praying for us as we seek to follow His will.
