Exalt and Youth Gathering

In case you don't read Aaron's blog, our youth group voted on a name and they chose Exalt. The logo is on the left. Last week we had the official kickoff for youth group. We pretty much had the rooms set up except for a few things. Aaron and I spent HOURS covering bulletin boards. We covered 17 altogether!! It looks much better with them covered though! That night was very relaxed and it was just a hang out time. We ate food and played the table games. We're really looking forward to starting Exalt on Wednesday nights.

Once a month a few of the Free Methodist youth groups in the area get together, called Youth Gathering, for worship, food, and games. Our church hosted it this month. Our praise team led the worship and Aaron preached. I'm really excited about our praise team because they are so talented and they do a great job. After Aaron spoke (which he did a wonderful job!) we moved to the gym for games. We played the human knot and 4 on a couch...in our situation... 4 on the folding chairs! : )After games we ate food, of course. We had a pretty good turnout and I enjoyed watching our students interact with those from other churches.

I Got A Job!

Thank you all for your prayers because I finally got a job! I am so lucky to have a pastor for a husband because everyone in the church wants to help you out. If it wasn't for the teachers that attend there, I wouldn't know about any openings. A woman from the church called and said that she heard about an aide opening in one of the elementary schools and she said she told the principal about me and that I should try contacting her. I emailed the principal a few minutes later and she emailed me back right away asking me to send in my application. She got it the next morning and called me right away and I had an interview that morning at 10:00. I guess it wasn't much of an interview because it only lasted 10 minutes. She basically told me what the job would entail and offered the position to me. I will be starting on Monday. I will be working at Tecumseh-Harrison Elementary in the special education classroom. I think this is going to be a perfect job for me. I'm really excited about it and looking forward to learning more about special education. My hours will be 8:30-2:30 so it's just part time and it doesn't pay a whole lot but it's a great way to get into the school and make myself known for future openings.

Animal Attacks!

So this past Saturday was a little interesting with members of the animal kingdom! We got up early that morning to take a road trip to St. Louis with some of the students from our youth group to visit a girl from our group that had back surgery. After we got ready I was making the bed and I lifted up the quilt to get it straightened and I saw a dark spot. Wondering what it could be I lifted it up again to find that it was a huge cockroach!! I put the quilt down and started calling for Aaron to come save my life! Normally, if I was alone, I would have asessed the situation and taken care of the huge bug. BUT, since my husband was in the other room I acted like a little girl and made him come kill it. That was animal attack #1. Later on that day after we went to the hospital we went to the zoo. We had a great time even though it was extremely hot. Many of you know that I absolutely love going to the zoo because I love all kinds of animals(except cockroaches of course!) My favorite part was seeing the hippos because they were swimming in the water right in front of us and there was a big glass wall so we could see them under water. I don't ever remember being able to see hippos at the zoo and they were really active. My other favorite part were the elephants. I always see elephants at the zoo but since it was so hot two of them were sitting in the water cooling off right in front of us! It was so fun to watch them close up. Then all of the sudden we saw humongous droppings float to the top one by one. It was hilarious! That was just a funny story...on to my #2 animal attack...We stopped to look at a bear and there was a peacock that was walking on the ledge because they just let them walk around the zoo. Well, it kept coming closer and I kept watching it, wondering where it was going to go. All of the sudden it jumped off the ledge at me and I screamed and jumped behind Aaron and...everyone started laughing at me. And that was animal attack #2!

Youth Room Switcheroo!!

When Aaron and I got back from IYC with the youth group we talked with Pastor Don and he had an idea about moving the youth room. We are currently in the basement of the church. He suggested that we move to the third floor of the church that is currently being used by the younger kids on Sunday mornings. We asked the Sunday School teacher what she thought as well as the board and we got the okay! We are really excited because we will have WAY more room and the whole floor will be ours. There are two large rooms and one small room. We plan to use one of the big rooms for worship/bible study/small groups, etc. and the other big room for table games like pool, air hockey, and ping pong that they already had but didn't have room to put up. This past Sunday night we had a work night to do preliminary stuff before the big move on Thursday. We took down pictures off the walls and bulletin boards and brought up the table games. I think the kids are really getting excited about the move. There were a lot there to help take stuff down and ready to serve. It only took us an hour to do it all. Thursday we are going to do the official move!

The Home of Aaron and Megan!!

Basically we just love our new apartment! It is much bigger and we have way more storage! It feels like home. :) Thank you for joining me on the tour. Hopefully next time you can see it in person!

Still rolling...

Life is slowing down a little bit just in time to pick back up again. The week after IYC we were able to unpack more and get Aaron's office set up at the church. On Thursday we went to Clay City for family camp until Sunday. It was relaxing and we were able to spend some time with Pastor Don and his family as well as a few other people from our church. I got a little attached to the baby on the right, Pastor Don's son. We also got to meet some other pastors within our conference. I enjoyed myself but I was very ready to be at home! This week has really been nice to be able to get things done at home and in the office. Aaron's day of was Thursday so we ran some errands and did a little sight seeing. I was added to Aaron's cell phone plan so we were able to get free new phones.


Out with the old...in with the new!

Because Vincennes is Indiana's first city, there is alot of history there. It was really hot that day so we only went to one place.

This is the Lincoln Memorial Bridge at George Rogers Clark National Historical Park. Illinois is on the other side of the bridge, over the Wabash River.

This is the memorial which commemorates the conquest of the Old Northwest Territory.

This week we have also been involved in Vacation Bible School. It was a super hero theme and the kids were introduced to heroes of the Bible and modern day heroes. Aaron and I were in charge of recreation for the week. The last night I was asked to be the modern day hero as a teacher. It was pretty fun but I had to compete with a doctor, firefighter, and a policeman from the previous nights! I think the kids still enjoyed it though.
