September Update

Sorry it's been awhile...I'll fill you in on the recent happenings in Vincennes...The first weekend of this month Aaron's Grandpa and Grandma Zehr came to visit. It was so nice to have them here. We showed them around and relaxed at home. His grandma showed me how to make a pie with some squash that they brought us. I'm pretty excited to know that I could make a pumpkin pie using a real pumpkin if I wanted to. They left Monday morning to go back to Illinois.

The next weekend we had a church work day on Saturday. I had so much fun! I just love cleaning, throwing things away, and organizing and that's exactly what we did. We focused on the children's area. Their rooms have been ignored for too long and they need a lot of work. We went through all the junk that was just sitting around and organized some classrooms. The men took down some paneling and put up dry wall. The men also removed 4 pianos and many podiums! Don't worry, we still have PLENTY of both around the church! 2 of the pianos were upstairs in the youth room so it was a challenge getting them down. One of them made it out intact but the other died slowly as it broke off into pieces on each step coming down the stairs. We plan to do more work in the children's area but that was a big start.

This past weekend we were in Marion to see Aaron's sister, Sam, play in a volleyball tournament at Taylor University. She plays for Trinity International in Chicago so that's the best chance we get to see her play. We stayed with Aaron's cousin Tyler and his wife Jena. They go to IWU and have an apartment in Marion. His Grandpa and Grandma Rocke were also there for the weekend. I took Friday off work so we left Thursday afternoon and had supper with our adopted family from college. We also went to their son's soccer game. Friday morning we walked around IWU's campus to see the changes that have already happened since we've been gone. The Christian Ministries building, where Aaron had many of his classes, had a complete makeover. He was a little disappointed it didn't happen before we got out. :) Sam had 2 matches that day. After the last game she was able to leave with us for the evening. We went to Ivanhoes for supper and then back to Tyler and Jena's to play the Wii. Saturday we met our friends Tim and Melody Wright for breakfast. That afternoon we watched Sam play more volleyball. Aaron's parents were able to come for the day too. We left Marion around 6:00. We really enjoyed our weekend. We are happy for the few times that we are able to make it back there.

Here is a short video of Sam getting in a nice hit!
She is #8, the outside hitter on the left.

The House is Finished!

We are officially moved in and all the decorating is complete! Here are some pictures!

This is of the back wall in the living room.

These are pictures are of the spare bedroom/office.

We are loving our house! We have so much more space and we love where it's at. You just can't beat the view!

Our New Place!

I'm sorry to those of you who have been waiting for so long to see pictures of our house! We've been without internet for over a week so I haven't been able to get to it. The spare bedroom and part of the living room are not competed yet so I'll post those pictures later.

Moving weekend went very well! Aaron and I had taken some boxes and things over throughout the week. My parents came down Friday to help us move. That night we took more over and pretty much had our whole kitchen set up. It was a wonderful feeling! We have a ridiculous amount of space in our kitchen! Saturday morning we had some more helpers to move a few boxes but mostly furniture. Three of our youth and one of our adult leaders came with their trucks. While the men were moving, mom and I were cleaning at the apartment. We did it all in about 2 hours. After it was all moved in our helpers left and the four of us went for a quick lunch and started to work. It was a long day of moving furniture and putting everything where we wanted it. At the apartment we had many storage tubs full of stuff that wouldn't fit anywhere else. Now that we're here I'm finally able to use that stuff and get to it easily...because it's not in a tub! We have so much storage space here! I still have a closet that isn't nearly full. I was a little sad leaving the apartment for the last time Saturday, but I got over that pretty quick. There are so many better things about the house!

On to the pictures...

This past Wednesday night we had our kick-off for youth group. Aaron has posted about it on his blog here. He also has pictures and a video clip from the event.
