More Family!

This past weekend my sister came down with her husband and their two boys. I had been looking forward to that for weeks! They came late Thursday night and got in around 1:00 in the morning. My fall break was Friday so I didn't have school. Friday we were pretty lazy. Saturday we went to the park to play before lunch. Natalie and I went shopping while the boys took naps. We also went to a pumpkin patch in Illinois. That night we stayed at home and watched the Notre Dame game. Sunday we went to church and that afternoon we played outside in the leaves and took a canoe ride. We had a lot of fun with them and I'm so glad that were able to come down to visit for a long weekend.

Visit From the In-Laws!

This past weekend Aaron's family came to visit. It was so good to see them again and spend some time with them. They got here late Friday night and then Saturday we put them to work! Alan and Joan know alot about plants and gardening so they helped us clean out our flower beds and do some replanting. We cleared out a lot because it was overgrown. A woman from our church has many plants and she said we could take any that we wanted. We got many different kinds! We brought them back and planted them all. It looks so much better! Thanks for all the help!

That night we played a game, ate popcorn and drank apple cider. Pastor Don was gone on Sunday so they were able to see Aaron preach for the first time. We went out for lunch afterwards. They left that afternoon. We are looking forward to seeing them again at Thanksgiving!

It's Finished!

I don't know if you all remember or not but back in August I blogged about painting a pear tree that the seniors would sign when the graduated. Well, it's finally done! Here are some pictures of the finished product!


The students will sign their name and the year they graduated on one of the pears. On the wall across from the tree is this verse: "You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit-fruit that will last." John 15:16

Cider Squeezing

This past Sunday, some of our youth parents had the group over to make apple cider. I've never made it before so that was really fun for me. They had a cider press from the 1800s. We made probably close to 15 gallons of cider. It was so good! We also ate supper around a bonfire and played bocce ball. I love fall!

Girl's Spa Night

This past Friday I had a spa night for the girls in our youth group. I had some things from Mary Kay so we did pedicures, Satin Hands, and facials. I had so much fun and I'm pretty sure the girls enjoyed it too! We had lots of snacks and ended the night with sparkling grapejuice and a game.

Yard Work!

On Thursday Aaron and I did some work outside. It felt so good to get out and get some things done. We haven't been able to do any outside work until nowbecause we never had a yard or anything. The rocks on the side of the house that go down to the lake were covered with small trees and many weeds. We started cutting a lot of that down and we are going to get it all cleared out. We also found some bricks in the lake that we used to put around one of the bushes by the house.

God is Good

Aaron and I have seen these past couple weeks how the Lord has been working. About a week ago our landlord, Phil, passed away. His blood pressure got too high and it caused a stroke. The next day the bleeding in his brain had stopped and the doctor said he would have a full recovery. The bleeding started again and the doctor said there was nothing that could be done. We went down last Saturday to Evansville to visit him and his wife, Sharon, in the hospital. He was in a coma and she was just sitting next to him holding his hand. He passed away that Sunday afternoon. Through all of this, we now see why we ended up being able to move into our house, with them as neighbors. We are able to help Sharon whenever she needs. I was wondering if she would take us up on our offer to help, but just this morning she asked Aaron if he could take her trash to the end of the driveway. Throughout these past couple of weeks, different members of their family and church members have said how glad they are that we will be so close. Phil was a sweet man and he had such a love for the Lord. We are going to miss him but we are looking forward to spending more time with Sharon and knowing her more.
