Christmas 2008

Aaron and I did our Christmas on the Saturday before. We decided to just do stocking stuffers this year and get our dining room table refinished. We had a fire in the fireplace and drank our chai. It was a very relaxing morning. To top it all off we went to Denny's for breakfast/lunch.

Tuesday morning we left to go to see my family for Christmas. I woke up with a stomach ache and threw up before we left and did it a couple more times in the car on the way. Not fun at all! That afternoon we spent time with Lee and Becca before the whole family came over. I was really upset that I had to be sick the night everyone was there. That night we ate supper, had devotions and opened presents. Christmas Eve morning I woke up and was back to normal! We did another Christmas with my parents, Greg & Natalie and their boys, and Lee and Becca. More food and presents! Lee and Becca left to go to Ohio and Greg and Natalie stayed the rest of the day. Christmas Day we were with my parents. We went to see my great great aunt Ruby and my grandpa and grandma Snider. Friday morning my friend Amber was able to come over and spend some time with us. We left that afternoon to come back home because Aaron's family came that night to our house.

The family minus spouses...I didn't get that picture on my camera!

Saturday morning we opened presents with Aaron's family and had breakfast for lunch. After that we went outside to play cornhole because it was 70 degrees! It was wonderful to get outside for awhile in warm weather. So weird! We played Monopoly, had supper and watched a movie. We also made s'mores in the fireplace! Sunday after church we had lunch and they left that afternoon.
Sam got Aaron a flag for our pole by the lake

I got lots of Tupperware!

We have been so blessed this year and God has worked in amazing ways in our life together. We hope you all took the time this Christmas to thank God for sending His Son to die for us and to reflect on what He has done in your life.

Progressive Dinner

The Monday before Christmas Aaron and I did a progressive dinner with the youth group. We went to four different houses for appetizers, soup, the main course, and dessert. After dessert we had a white elephant gift exchange, which is always an interesting time. :) The most exciting gift was a knitting machine given to a senior boy. He whipped out a scarf in no time! We had a good time with the students and it was fun to get all dressed up!

Formal Dinner Fundraiser

Last night we had our 2nd annual Formal Dinner Fundraiser. Last year the leaders made the food but this year we had it catered so that was a blessing to me! The night went smoothly. We had a lot of students there to help and we had 82 people attend! After dessert we had a barbershop group sing some Christmas songs. It was a wonderful evening and I think the church people really enjoyed it.

Jam Packed Weekend

Last weekend was very full for Aaron and me. Friday night we drove up to Indy for a pastor's and spouse Christmas dinner for all the pastors in our conference. After that we spent the night with Angela and Jackie, some friends from college, who now live in Indy. It was so good to see them again! I miss them so much! We drove home Saturday afternoon and then prepared food the rest of the day. That night my parents stopped to see us on their way home from Tennessee. They went down with some friends. They spent the night and went with us to church on Sunday. We had lunch with them and then they took off. That afternoon we prepared more food because that night we had our adult leaders over for a Christmas dinner. They do alot for us and we really appreciate the help!

Christmas Time is Here

Here are some pictures of our Christmas decorating. I love our house at Christmas! It's so beautiful and cozy inside! Aaron did a great job of putting up the lights outside too!

Thanksgiving

Aaron and I had a wonderful Thanksgiving! It started out with me saying goodbye to my old job and all my students and the teachers. That was a little sad for me. I'm looking forward to going back to test there though! Wednesday Aaron and I headed for Illinois to be with his family. Thanksgiving was nice and relaxing and we spent some time with the Zehr side of the family. On Friday Aaron and I went shopping but we didn't go crazy early like we did last year. We went around 8:00. It was still crazy though! People were everywhere! That night I went to a baby shower for Aaron's cousin with his mom and sister. Saturday we spent all day with the Rocke side for "Thanksmas". Everyone in the family was able to make it so it was a big crowd! Sunday morning we woke up to lots of snow! We didn't really get any snow in Vincennes last year so it was a nice treat for me! After church we had lunch and celebrated Aaron's mom's birthday, since we won't be around for it. We had a very relaxing weekend and it was nice to get away for awhile.

Update on the new job! I started on Monday. I haven't really done too much yet because I'm still being trained. I've watched a couple tests being given and I got to do some observations by myself. I wish I already knew how to do everything because I'm ready to get busy! I've been sitting around a lot the past two days and I've had enough of that. I'm so used to moving constantly being in the special ed. room. Now I don't have any crazy kids to run after! :)

Pictures with Santa

Two weekends ago our youth group did a fundraiser. We did it last year too. Vincennes has a Christmas stroll every year and we do pictures with Santa after the parade, and then the rest of the weekend. We had a good time with Santa!
