Brookhaven Youth Camp-In

Starting on Sunday night, our youth group from Brookhaven had a camp-in at the church. The first night we set up tents in the gym and watched a movie. Some including Aaron stayed up until 3:00 playing Settlers. Monday was a jam-packed day! Aaron had to go to work at 10:00 but I was able to be there all day. We made pancakes and sausage for the kids for breakfast and then we went roller skating and then to Cici's for lunch. From 2-4 we split up the girls and guys and had to come up with a service project. The boys decided to pick up trash and us girls bought sidewalk chalk and bubbles and went to a Daycare and spent our time playing with the kids. The girls had so much fun and didn't want to leave! We went back to the church and made supper and then we went on a video scavenger hunt. Aaron and I are definitely going to do it when we have our own youth group. I did video scavenger hunts when I was in youth group and I loved them. I was probably more excited about going than the kids were. We split up into junior high and high school. Our challenge was to find businesses in Gas City or Marion that began with each letter of the alphabet. The letters were worth various point values. We also got extra points for doing an action at the business with that same letter such as jumping jacks at JC Penny. Then we got extra points for getting an employee to do it with us. The winner was the team that had the most points. We had a blast but we were so tired at the end! When we got back we had a bonfire and then we made a 10 foot long ice cream sundae! It was amazing! They got a gutter from Lowes and we filled it with ice cream and all kinds of toppings. That night was realized that our video never taped from the scavenger hunt so Pastor Tony asked if we would do it again the next day. Aaron was able to go that time! We wanted to make it more interesting so the kids wouldn't be bored so we decided to do all new businesses and actions. We didn't have a time limit this time so we were able to come up with some pretty creative actions. We we got back we ate lunch and cleaned up and it was time to go home. I had such a blast those few days! Before the camp-in I didn't really know many of the kids very well. During the camp-in I was able to talk to the kids and get to know them better. Wednesday night for church we got to watch the two videos. We laughed so hard! They were hilarious!

Here are some pictures from the camp-in!
